My blogging tailed off a couple of weeks back whilst I went to Ohio with Tim to do some work. I've driven through and around Ohio but never actually stayed there before and lucky us - Columbus treated us to the worst storm for 30 years on record over one weekend. Since we were staying at a Marriott Residence Inn (no restaurant or room service but a fully equipped kitchen) that proved a real problem when we found ourselves trapped into the hotel room with no food and the car buried under 20+ inches of snow, saved the next day by the only open grocery store for miles around which we trekked to to buy bread and cheese. Oh and the door on our hotel room 'broke' (the battery ran down apparently!). Which meant when returning to the hotel around 2am 3 nights running we were locked out in the corridor and had to get the security guard to run over to the Hilton and borrow a jemmy to get us inside (btw now i've seen how easy it is to break in I won't be in a hurry to leave anything valuable in my hotel room).
I did manage to carve out some time for a quick 6hr stop early Sunday morning (and into the afternoon) in the nearby Barnes and Noble and ended up coming home again with 1 more case than I travelled out with. Enjoying the books of Lisa See (The Flower Net and The Interior) , Elizabeth Gaskell (wives and daughters) and Carol O'Connell (Shark Music) in my downtime...
